Our Rating:

What if you could stay in ketosis on a low carb diet but still enjoy biscuits, cookies, pies, pizza and more? That's what Carbquik attempts to offer. An easy to use baking mix that only contains 2g of net carbs per serving (2g net carbs if you are making biscuits).

Today we're going to review Carbquik after testing it for ourselves and let you know if it lives up to the hype.

What is Carbquik?

Carbquik is a low carb baking mix or biscuit mix alternative to regular flour baking mixes. It uses a unique blend of ingredients including Carbalose flour which is made from wheat but is very low in non-fiber carbohydrates.

For this reason, it's become one of the most popular low carb baking mixes due to its similar taste and texture to cooking with flour.

Who is Carbquik best for?

If you're on a keto diet or low carb diet in general, Carbquik is aimed at you. It's extremely common to get cravings for bread and other high carbohydrate foods when you start a low carb diet, and alternatives are few and far between. If you've been on a keto diet for any length of time there's a good chance you've tried almond flour, flax meal, coconut flour, and others to try to bake low carb snacks. The results usually don't come close to traditional high carb recipes.

Carbquik makes it incredibly easy to bake a range of foods, as it's a ready-to-use baking mix. If you've ever made biscuits or pancakes from a mix like Bisquick you'll find it's essentially an identical process. So if ease of use is important to you, this product is definitely worth a try.

How many net carbs are in Carbquik?

Carbquik has a serving size of 32 grams or 1/3rd of a cup. Out of that, there are 16 total carbohydrates, and 14 grams of that are fiber. You end up with 2 grams of net carbs per serving. Based on their recipes, one Carbquik biscuit is one serving of Carbquik, so if you make biscuits using this baking mix it's easy to calculate the number of net carbs in your meal.

What does Carbquik do well?

We are big fans of the texture and overall similarity of Carbquik to baking with your regular flour. The texture of biscuits made with this baking mix is better than any other keto friendly biscuit recipe we've tried.

The product gets rave reviews on Amazon, with hundreds of reviews touting its' taste and texture. Being able to enjoy foods that you previously couldn't on a low carb diet can make sticking to the diet that much easier, as you get to eat more foods that you enjoy and might be craving.

From our experience, we found that Carbquik is best when it's eaten with other foods that have flavor. By itself, Carbquik can be bland but can also have a slight taste to it that you're not used to. So for instance, we recommend that instead of eating a biscuit by itself, have it as a side with dinner, or cut it in half and make a sandwich with it.

Final Thoughts About Carbquik

Carbquik is the best low carb baking mix we've found, with a better texture than any combination of other low carb flours like coconut, or almond, etc.

It's fairly low carb, but you'll still have to be careful not to go on a carb binge, as at 2g net carbs per 32g of Carbquik you could eat enough to get kicked out of ketosis.

Regardless, if you are on a keto diet we recommend ordering it for yourself once just to try it. You can almost certainly find some recipes that you like using the product, and it can be helpful to have on hand anytime you need a flour substitute.
